Friday Night Movie: Gone with the Wind

Every Friday, a member of the Vesties team honors one of their favorite movies with a treasury. This week Teresa from GloryBDesign pays tribute to Gone with the WindGet your box of tissues, because the house lights are dimming.

It's impossible to write a plot summary of Gone with the Wind without these words: sweeping, romance, drama, turbulent, breathtaking, spectacle. Directed by Victor Fleming, the 1939 adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's novel of love and loss during and after the Civil War starred Vivian Leigh, Clark Gable, Olivia de Havilland, Leslie Howard, Butterfly McQueen, Hattie McDaniel and a cast of thousands.

Here's what Teresa had to say:
My mom took my best friend and me to see Gone with the Wind when we were in our early teens. Of course, by then the movie had been out for many years, but because it was such a beloved classic, it still made the rounds to local movie theaters every few years. Being a Southern girl with strong Irish roots, growing up on a large farm, the movie struck a cord with me. And of course, there was that dashing character Rhett Butler! Swoon! My best friend and I ended up being college roomies, and we had a life size poster of Clark Gable as Rhett Butler in our dorm room! I guess he made a lasting impression on our young minds!
